This photographic project explores Dar il-Ħanin Samaritan, Richard England’s retirement home for members of the Lay Society of Christian Doctrine, as a space designed around peace, reflection and serenity. The photographs focus on how England’s architectural choices, through light, form, material, geometry and the relationship between interior and exterior spaces shape the atmosphere and experience of the home. The shoot examines the building not only as architecture, but as a sanctuary, exploring how its carefully considered spaces encourage stillness, contemplation and a sense of calm for those who inhabit and visit it.
